For many years, New York City has had particular importance in the hearts of its citizens as well as its fans all around. From the famous yellow cabs to its internationally renowned gastronomic scene, this urban playground is always associated with constant speed and artistic vitality. “The Concrete Jungle Where Dreams Are Made Of” captures the dynamic force of this metropolis as Alicia Keys has memorably sang. Inspired by this continuous bustle, Oscar de la Renta’s most recent scent release—New York Eau de Parfum—honors the vivid core of the city itself.
A Fragrance Emerging from a City Never Sleeping
Oscar de la Renta’s idea for New York’s Eau de Parfum honors the vitality and attitude of New York City. Vice president and senior perfumer at IFF Yves Cassar discussed how the famous cityscape and tall towers guided scent development. Cassar says these architectural wonders represent the city’s everlasting attractiveness and innovative modernism. While capturing the core of the Oscar de la Renta brand, the objective was to convey the grace, vitality, and creative energy of New York.
A fruity and floral symphony
As vibrant as the city is itself is the New York Eau de Parfum. Leading the scent is a flash of luscious strawberry, an invigorating opening. The core of the scent—a bouquet of Turkish rose petals—gives way here in the top note. Cassar says these roses are neat and fresh, with a dewy quality that accentuates the whole composition’s romantic lushness. A basic note of creamy sandalwood grounds the smell and lends warmth and elegance that stays on the skin long after application. Like the city that inspired it, the outcome is a scent trip through New York City meant to inspire confidence and vitality.
Enjoyment of the Launch
Oscar de la Renta’s co-creative directors, Laura Kim, and Fernando Garcia, organized a special cocktail party at the Ned’s Club NoMad rooftop with amazing views of the Empire State Building to honor the premiere of the New York Eau de Parfum. Attending the glitzy dinner were New York socialites, including Camila Coelho, Tina Craig, Ezra J. Williams, Kathy, and Nicky Hilton, and Also present was Supermodel Candice Swanepoel, the face of the new scent, radiating the easy glitziness for which the Oscar de la Renta brand is renowned.
Swanepoel highlighted her great respect for Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia as well as her love of the city itself while expressing her delight about joining the scent launch. Reflecting on the idea of the scent, she pointed out how New York always offers a vibrant, energetic, and new inspiration source.
The scent of New York, caught in a bottle
Swanepoel pointed to the vibrant, energetic environment of the event itself when asked to define the aroma of New York Eau de Parfum. As the sun sank over the famous skyline, guests captured images, drank bespoke drinks, and danced to DJ sets by Lucas Thomashow and Tinx. Swanepoel observed, “It smells almost like this feels right now.” The scent catches the enthusiasm, inventiveness, and happiness that define the most famous events in New York City.
Oscar de la Renta’s New York Eau de Parfum is an homage to the city that has motivated innumerable individuals with its endless vitality and eternal elegance, not simply a scent. From the luscious freshness of strawberries to the flowery richness of Turkish rose petals and the consoling warmth of sandalwood, every note is designed to carry the user into the heart of New York City. This scent transports one to one of the most energetic cities on Earth, whether one is negotiating Manhattan’s fast-paced streets or remembering its rich culture.
