honoring a century of workmanship: Maison Lesage and Cabana Magazine
Maison Lesage, the legendary French needlework house known for its magnificent works since 1924, teamed up with Cabana Magazine to provide a limited-edition collectible box set in an opulent celebration of talent and legacy. Wearing spectacular black-and-white sequined tweed, this partnership commemorates a turning point—Maison Lesage’s 100th anniversary falls with the opening of the magnificent Paris Galerie du 19M.

Martina Mondadori, the creative founder of Chanel and Cabana, threw an enchanted supper within 7L, a hidden gem housed in Karl Lagerfeld’s venerable former photographic studio, to honor this unique event. Double as a bookshop, this area also features Lagerfeld’s vast collection of 30,000 volumes, evidence of his lifetime love of books. Originally founded in 1999, 7L and its publishing partner Éditions 7L joined the Chanel family in 2021 following Lagerfeld’s death so that his creative energy would always flourish.

It was impossible to escape the atmosphere of Lagerfeld’s discriminating eye as guests entered the salon; his exact taste seemed to permeate every inch of the space. Four antique dinner sets, carefully matched from reputable manufacturers such as Manufacture de Meissen, Atelier Gustavsberg Kage, and La Compagnie des Arts Français, made up the beautiful tablescape. Every table featured immaculate white tablecloths, and beautiful Lalique glass vases loaded with vivid blooms gave the elegant setting some life.
These well-chosen surroundings create the ideal backdrop for honoring Cabana’s creative approach to the art de vivre. From travel and interiors to photography and fashion, Mondadori, from a dynasty of Italian publishers, has developed a strong eye for exquisite aesthetics and a great respect of culture. She started Cabana in 2004 and has evolved it into a wonderful fusion of her interests. When she considers her path, she says, “It all began while I was a young mother living in London. Driven by longing for my native country and its way of life, I returned to the Milanese mansion Renzo Mongiardino constructed from fresh eyes. I started making mood boards with pictures from British and Italian interiors, and they turned out very well. Thus, the concept of publishing emerged.
Mondadori’s idea has evolved into a close-knit network of friends, aficionados, and supporters driven by a love of sophisticated cultural encounters. Among the outstanding guest lineup for the evening were respected photographer François Halard, writer and stylist Miguel Flores-Vianna, interior designer Vincent Darré, artist Ashley Hicks, and Lesage CEO Hubert Barrère. “Lesage and Chanel have brilliantly brought their exceptional Haute Couture craftsmanship into the editorial space, creating a truly unique cover for Cabana, which fills me with pride,” Mondadori, radiant in a stunning golden Chanel evening gown, said as the celebrations got underway. Dealing with them is the dream come true.
This celebration was a monument to the ongoing strength of creation and cooperation in the realm of fashion and lifestyle, not only about Maison Lesage’s breathtaking skill. We eagerly await seeing where this wonderful adventure leads us next as we honor 100 years of superb workmanship.
